A sweltering day.
Walk out the door, and it feels as if hot breath is hitting you right in the face
The brick building, with tall stained glass windows. High ceilings, hard wood floors, off white walls, and chairs being set up by servant leaders. We are practicing our Praise and Worship, bare footed my husband and I. He plays the drums as I sing unto my audience of one. It's worship, It's HIM that I adore... lead me Lord, use me Lord, despite myself and all my faults.
Prayer with a sweet friend Jen. Broken hearts before the Lord, crying out to the Lord as her child cries out for his mama. Lord bless the people that walk through these doors today, prepare their hearts to be open to what the HOLY SPIRIT has to say. Praying for those being baptised on this fathers day... my son, Elijah being one of the people.
My heart pounds in my chest, 9 years this August 4th I had given birth to my first born. Eli has a light that shines through those beautiful blue eyes. His smile lightes up a room, and his laugh is cotagious. His humor, childish and silly, but that is the way the Lord has made him and that I am grateful for. A heart that will help anyone at any time without question, this is the heart of my son Elijah.
On this fathers day, he was baptized. Truly that greatest gift that a parent will ever experience, when their child accepts the Lord, but wants to follow the Lord in baptism. This for Eli, I thought, would be a huge deal. Why? He is afraid of large crowds, doesn't like to get up in front of people. This didn't even cross his mind... he was set on following the Lord and telling the world that he isn't ashamed of the gospel.
After service, the congregation walks out onto the black top, steaming with hot breath... all to celebrate and cheer on those being baptized.
Eli steps in and he is ready, he is confident, ALL SMILES, not taking in all the people watching him.
"Son, do you understand the decision you are making today? Is the Lord Jesus your Lord and Savior?" Eli replies with a bold " YES". "In the Name of the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit"... as he is reborn and comes out dead to the old and alive to the new... Mommy bursts into tears.
tears... tears... tears...
they flow, they rain down my face... mascara washed away, heart leaping out of my chest...
my thoughts... Lord, he has done it... my first has made his decision... Eli has always been your child... now he is your child because of his own decision. Thank you Lord... despite all the failures I have made as a mother... thank you for the gift of my son following you, and making the next step as a Christ-Follower. YOU ARE GOOD!
