New Creations

Scott and I have a friend that was so gracious to make us a window seat for Eli and Zach's room. I desperatly need room to store Zach's clothing, because we have no dresser for him. We thought this would be a great way to give Eli and Zach a great seat to read on and look out their windows to imagine great adventures together. In preparation for the seat Scott was cutting out the rug and found some not so good things.... AHHH! There was water spots all around the edges. Hesitant, Scott cut out a small panel of drywall to see if there was extensive damage... and it was not looking too good!

Under the left window, the wood had rotted so badly that when Scott put his knife into it the wood just crumbled. We were a little worried, but we knew that with the Lord and Scott's great abilities to fix most anything, we'd be alright. Scott told me that he had extra wood scraps from other projects, he had extra insulation from a job he had just finished, and while in the attic trying to see if the roof was the cause of the leak... he found extra drywall from previous owners... Wow, God is so amazing! Provision abounds here with us. We were able to fix the rotted wood and all for no cost!

Eli was dad's helper that day... they had a blast tearing things out... cutting things up... and then restoring it all to look like new.



The whole story reminds me of a few things.... This is a metaphor for our lives. Before knowing the Lord, the outside looks so good... seems like you've got it all put together, but undernearth lies one big MESS.... our HEART! Filled with sin, dishonesty, lies, hatred, bitterness, hurt, fear... the list goes on, you fill in the blank. The Gracious Lord is here , asking to come in and clean up the mess... the wonderful carpentar. He is ready and waiting, willing to fix it all if we only let him . Thank the Lord Scott and I have both asked the carpentar to come into our lives and fix it all. We were both damaged and broken people before the Lord came to restore our lives. Now we are new creations in Christ... "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 Praise the Lord for our new life in Christ! We are forever thankful, and grateful to our Lord.
